Disney’s Toy Story Land
Toy Story was one of my favorite movies growing up! It is still my mom’s favorite Disney movie of all time… So when I got the invite to come check out Disney’s Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, I was over the moon! I knew it was going to be a hot and crowded day since we were visiting in July, but honestly I wasn’t even bothered! The crowds, heat, and rain were all worth the playful and colorful fun!
If you ware looking to make the most out of your visit, there are a few pointers I would like to share with you though. I want to share it all with you..What I thought of the rides, the food, the land as a whole… and what to do ( and not do) in order for you to have the best Toy Story experience possible!
What To Expect In Andy’s Back Yard
When you are planning your trip to Disney’s Toy Story Land, expect long lines! Since this is the newest area of the park, it is the most popular, therefor making the lines extra long! One thing you can do in order to potentially cut down on wait times though , is try and grab some Fast Passes. They may be difficult to get a hold of, but if you book early you can get Fast Passes up to 30 days in advance. Either way though, there are going to be long lines, and it will most likely be hot. The biggest piece of advice I can give you, is to be kind and patient! Don’t take out frustrations on well meaning cast members… I have seen it happen and it isn’t pretty.
Long lines aside, you can expect out of this world fun when you step into Andy’s back yard.
Slinky Dog Dash
When you get to Disney’s Toy Story Land, make a mad dash to Slinky Dog Dash! Is an amazingly fun little coaster! It is perfect for younger thrill seekers as well since it isn’t as intense as some of the other larger coasters at the park. My husband and I both got to ride it, and we both loved it! This is one that adults and kids will love, so perfect if you have some little thrill seekers just beginning on their journey to becoming an adrenaline junkie. Minimum height for Slinky Dog Dash is 38 inches.
Alien Swirling Saucers
I have been chosen! Alien Swirling saucers was one of my daughter’s favorite rides! No lie, we rode this bad boy twice! There is no height limit for this ride, so if you have little ones like I do, this is a perfect option for you!
Toy Story Mania
The last of the three rides in Toy Story Land is Toy Story Mania. Though this is not a new ride, it has had a lot of updating and reworking to fit the theme of the new land better. We loved this one as well, especially my 5 year old. You ride through and play carnival type games! Compete with your cart-mate and see who can get the high score! Super secret side note, the “popsicle wall” is on the exit of this ride in case you want to snap a few pics for the gram! For Toy Story Mania, there is also no height requirement!
Woody’s Lunchbox
Ready for a break from all the rides? Head on over to Woody’s Lunchbox and grab some of the delicious offerings Andy’s Mom has packed away for you! Seriously, the food is out of this world! My absolute favorite, hands down was the “Totchos”… Don’t question them, just enjoy! I honestly think I will be trying to replicate these at home, they were that delicious. Hubs was a big fan of the BBQ Brisket Melt, and the Macaroni Salad is to die for! Seriously, Andy’s mom must have some serious culinary skills.
I also highly recommend you try the Grown-Up’s Lemonade! Made with Cherry Vodka, Lemonade and a black cherry puree, it isn’t too strong, but has just the right amount of kick.
Meet Your Favorite Characters
There are so many fun character meet opportunities in Toy Story Land! Jessie, Woody, and Buzz all have their spaces around the area where you can meet them! There are also Green Army People walking around throughout the area. Sometimes they are stopped in spots where you can meet them…But even more fun is watching their drum line show! If you haven’t seen it yet, scroll up and watch my video where I show you their routine, it is one that is totally worth the watch!
The Thing I would Change
As you can probably tell, I absolutely loved being a toy in Andy’s back yard. It was hard coming up with even one thing I wasn’t a big fan of, but there is one thing I would change. There is a lack of shade and covered areas in the area. This isn’t the worst thing possible, but this is Florida… It rains daily in the summer, and when we were there we had to take cover outside of Toy Story Land when the afternoon monsoon hit. Also, the lack of shade can be a bit rough in this Florida heat. So if it were up to me, I would add in some more shade/covered areas and maybe some large misting fans throughout the area to help keep cool!
Other than that though, I wouldn’t change a thing! I felt so much nostalgia when I was there. My daughter loved it, I loved it, and we will totally be back!
