Philly Cheesesteak Bowl
I am quite a sucker for a cheesesteak sandwich. They are my absolute favorite and I could probably eat one every day and still not be sick of them.
That being said, I am trying diligently to decrease my carb intake. This means less bread, rice, pasta…. All the things I love in life that do not love me back.
But when it comes to meal prepping, I have been trying to come up with really delicious low-carb and/or keto alternatives to some of my favorite dishes.
Making a low-carb keto Philly cheesesteak was probably the most simple of all my low-carb meals honestly.
It doesn’t take much effort, just make it as you normally would but don’t put it on a sandwich... It sounds so simple, I have no clue why I didn’t think of it earlier!
My attempt to make a low carb option out of one of my favorite sandwiches was really a success! I took these to work with me over the course of a week. Heated them up and ate them right out of the bow, but you can also put them into a low-carb wrap and enjoy that way too! That’s really the beauty of this dish, it is so extremely versatile!
Low Carb Philly Cheesesteak
To start making your meal prep, you will want to marinate your steak. I used a super thin shaved steak marinated with steak seasoning, minced garlic, Worcestershire, and a little bit of A1 steak sauce.
Let this marinate in the fridge from anywhere from 2 hours to overnight.
When you are ready to cook, start with some onions and mushrooms. If you have peppers, add them in as well. If I would have had some on hand, I would have loved to have added in some green and red peppers.
Cook your veggies down until they are starting to get soft., then add in your shaved steak.
Cook until your steak is done. This should only take about 6-7 minutes depending on how thin your steak is.
Once it is cooked through, top with cheese and let it melt!
Add it to your meal prep bowls and enjoy whenever you are ready for a super simple and delicious low carb lunch option!
