A pinch of cinnamon

The best way to incorporate cardamom is to crush a pod or two and add them to the pot while you heat the water for your coffee, but you can add a little of the crushed spice direct to your hot cup of coffee too – just go sparingly.

If you really want to give your morning coffee a kick, add a generous tablespoon of chili hot chocolate to the cup and stir vigorously. Certainly not for workdays, but a real treat for holidays!

Sure, coconut oil may not be a spice, but it can really liven up your morning coffee with its unique nutty, almost floral flavor, and it will also, due to its high healthy fat content, really set you up for the day. Just make sure you stir thoroughly before you drink so that the oil is evenly distributed.
