Does It Really Need To Be So Hard To Keep Your Home Clean? Not At All!

In just living our day to day lives, it just seems like our homes get messier. No matter how much you chase up the mess and try to get on top of it with a cleaning routine, the piles of laundry and the scum on the bathroom tiles just seem to get bigger! This makes keeping your home clean feel like the hardest task in the world, and the more you try to keep things neat and tidy, the less motivated you feel to switch the vacuum on or get the duster out.

It’s why we think keeping your home clean should be made ten times easier. A bit of dirt never hurts anyone, but when you feel like it’s everywhere and you’re never going to conquer it, it can really start to harm your mental state. You may feel ashamed over the ‘state’ of your home, and be too embarrassed to have any guests over.

But no more! We can make your home an easy to clean space that stops looking like a monolith of grime in the back of your head. A bit of maintenance here and a few rules there and your home will be as tidy and low cost as you need it.

You Don’t Always Need to Deep Clean

It’s true! Deep cleans are meant for those special moments when you realize it’s been at least a year since you got behind the refrigerator with a microfiber cloth. They’re not meant for every other weekend, especially when you’d much rather be doing something else.

So if you think you need to deep clean multiple times a month, let go of the compulsion. It’s OK to give your routine a skip and just do some light work instead. Clear the coffee table, wipe down the stove, make sure your clean washing is folded and put away, and voila! All the benefits of a clean space in around a quarter of the time.

Have Toy Rules and Always Follow Them

If the kids are always leaving their toys around, and you’ve certainly had to stop and clutch your foot after stepping on them a few times, it might be a sign your household needs some rules.

Namely, if toys are brought out to play with, they must then be taken back to their box and put away. No exceptions!

No matter how young your children are, this can be the one rule you give them to follow around the house. It’s a simple direction that is easy to follow, seeing as it’s a very physical thing that doesn’t require much demonstration, and it’s not a confusing principle either. If a toy comes out, a toy goes back.

Get Yourself a Robot Vacuum Cleaner

A robot vacuum cleaner, while a small device that needs recharging every now and then, can be a real godsend in the modern household. Turn it on, let it make its way around your rooms, and all the fluff, crumbs, and pet dander that was there will be swiftly picked up.

You didn’t even have to pull the vacuum out, unwrap the cable and plug it in, and spend the next 20 minutes going back and forth across the floor. That can make a real difference to the amount of time you spend cleaning each day.

Get yourself one of these little kits and rely on it to keep your house looking and feeling clean. Set it to work once or twice a day, empty it out when the alert goes off, and ultimately only take 2 to 3 minutes to get this task done.

Put Protective Mats Down in the Garage

Your garage is probably one of the messiest rooms in the house. You might not think about it much, but seeing as garages tend to be storage combo spaces, there’s probably a lot of dirt, dust, and cobwebs hanging around.

It’s why protective mats are such an important addition to the garage. You’re going to be parking your car in there and maybe conducting a bit of DIY from time to time, and liquids like oil and paint can get everywhere if you’re not careful.

A few Trucontain Containment Mats on the ground could make all the difference to the cleanliness of the space, and unlike just putting a tarp down, they don’t look all that out of place.

Aside from this, make sure you’re regularly going through the storage in there and checking for things like damp and signs of pests. And don’t worry about how long this might take, as a couple checks a year should be just fine.

Think About Hiring a Cleaner

And finally, when it comes to defeating the difficulty of keeping a home clean, sometimes you just need a little bit of help! And this help is even better when it comes from a professional. Hire a cleaner to come round maybe once a week to tidy up for you and you’ll never feel like the mess is getting on top of you again.

If you feel this would be a waste of money, sit down and count up how much of your own time you’re spending on keeping your home clean. Really think here: how much energy is going into picking up after everyone day after day? Wouldn’t it be better to get someone who knows all the tricks of the trade to come round and get the job done for you?

We think so! Interview a few cleaners, see if you like their work, and then hire the one who does the best job. Trust us, you’ll soon come to see this person as your best friend!

Let’s make the difficult of cleaning a home far less strenuous from here on out! Automate the vacuuming, make sure oil never soaks into the garage floor, and get the kids to follow some rules around their toys. And remember, it’s always OK to hire a cleaner to come round once a week.
