A children’s party really shouldn’t be stressful, should it? It’s all about having fun, playing games, eating snacks and cake, and going home feeling sleepy and content. But that’s just how the kids feel; the fact is that the adults who have to arrange these parties often do get incredibly stressed about them, and that means they don’t enjoy them – plus, the memories they make will be more negative than positive.
If you think it’s time all that stopped and you want to be less stressed when you’re planning a kid’s party, keep reading for some useful tips.
Check The Date – Carefully
There are lots of things that can make a children’s party stressful, and one of those is picking the wrong date. After all, if you choose poorly, you might find no one can actually make it, and that would be a disaster, not to mention potentially expensive if you then have to cancel the venue or entertainers (especially if you’re not able to rebook for the new date – you might lose your deposit altogether).
That’s why it’s so important to check, check, and check again before you decide on a date. Most parent groups and classes these days have a WhatsApp chat, so you can let people know the potential date and see if there are any major clashes, for example. Although you probably won’t be able to please everyone, if the majority of people can come, you know you’ve got the right date, and you can start getting things booked and confirmed.
Don’t Do The Cooking
It’s good etiquette to provide food for the kids you invite to your child’s party, and it’s certainly something they – and their parents – will be expecting. The problem is that trying to make enough food to feed more than the usual number of children in your home can get pricey, take a lot of time, and become stressful because you’ll have plenty of other things to do.
That’s why you shouldn’t do any of the cooking or food prep at all. Instead, you can hire caterers to do it for you, and you can check out their services here to see what we mean. There will be a wide range of great party food that will be put together and delivered to your home or venue, and you won’t have to worry about a thing while the kids get plenty to eat. Plus, hiring caterers means you have a lot more say in what the little ones are eating, which isn’t the case if you were to get takeout, for example.
Hire Entertainment
It’s nice to think that you can handle everything by yourself, but as we’ve seen when it comes to the food element, sometimes an extra helping hand can be ideal, and the same can be said for the entertainment aspect too.
Rather than trying to keep a lot of children happy yourself, hire an entertainer – that could be a clown, a magician, a disco DJ, a character from a favorite TV show or movie series, or perhaps someone who does arts and crafts with the kids, for example. The entertainer will have experience in keeping kids entertained and controlled, and all you’ll need to do is hand out the swag bags when it’s time for everyone to leave.
