There is something so special about Disney World during the Holidays. Everything from the decor to the parades changes overnight into a winter wonderland. I was invited to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this year with my family, and honestly, it is an event that everyone should attend at least once. The park is beautiful and there are so many Christmas themed activities to do. The Christmas Party is something that everyone, young and old can really enjoy.
*I attended this event free of charge as a part of their media night. All opinions are 100% my own. Please see my full disclosure for more details*
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
While I grew up in Central Florida and have been to Disney World numerous times in my life, this year was my first time attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It was an extremely fun experience for my entire family! While I highly recommend that everyone attend this party at least one time, there are a few things that you should know before you pack up and head to Orlando.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Ticket
The first thing you need to know if you want to attend the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is that you will need to buy a ticket. This ticket is separate from regular admission. That means if you go to Magic Kingdom on a day that the party is going on, you will have to either purchase admission to the party as well or leave the park by 6 pm. While this sounds like a downside, it really isn’t that terrible. They have the dates of the party listed on the Disney Website, so you can plan accordingly and avoid trips to Magic Kingdom on those days.
The upside to this is that guests can purchase just the ticket to the party without buying regular admission. Yup, you heard that right, you can pay just the cost of the party admission, which is much less than the cost of regular admission. You can purchase your tickets, and while the party itself doesn’t technically begin until 7 PM, they will start admitting you into the park as early as 4 PM. Cast members will provide you with a special armband so they know who is there for the party, and who has to leave the park at 6 PM.
Disney Less Crowded During the Party
As you know, I have been to Disney World many many times. While there are times of the year that as less busy, the parks are pretty much always packed. I will say though, that during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, the lines for many of the rides were much shorter than I regularly see them. This could be due to having to purchase a special ticket and many of the pass-holders and others not wanting to spend the extra money, but it is wonderful for those who are attending the party. It only took my daughter and me 5 minutes to wait for the Tea Cups, which is typically much longer.
Disney Dining Options
I would recommend eating prior to the party starting. Many of the restaurants will be closing down, and it will be difficult to find a place to get a full meal. We ate in the park before the party started and it was really the best idea. Later on in the night, we ran into quite a few individuals who were searching for places to eat, but couldn’t find anything that was open. You can also bring snacks into the park with you FYI. We took some pouches for the kids and water bottles.
Cookies and Drinks
Do you know how I mentioned that a lot of the eateries close down for the party? Well, many of these turn into cookie spots! Any eatery in the park where you find a large candy cane in front, you can go in and get complimentary cookies and a drink, usually cider or hot chocolate. They have a lot of other special treats around the park as well. Trust me, all of them are worth checking out!
Specialty Christmas Characters at Disney
One of the best parts about Disney World in general is meeting all of your favorite characters. During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, there is even more opportunity to meet characters! There are princesses in spots around the park that they aren’t at normally, and you can even meet Jack Skellington dressed in his Christmas best. The parades have a ton of beloved characters as well. During the party, the lines aren’t even that long, so you can meet your favorite princesses without waiting in an hour-long line!
Holiday Wishes
The Parade is wonderful, and the dance show is great, but Holiday Wishes is the real star of the show. Disney spares no expense when it comes to this firework spectacular. It is mesmerizingly beautiful, something that everyone should experience at least once!
Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Worth The Trip
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is something that I believe to totally worth the trip. It is such a fun and different experience, that everyone should get to try it at least once.

Those lights are really magical. I took my family to Disney earlier this year and it was so hot, I would love to take them again during cooler, less crowded times.

It's almost always hot lol but winter is one of the better times to go. As locals, we don't typically go on weekends or during the Summer.
