To use honey on a cut or scrape, simply clean the area with mild soap and water, then apply a thin layer of honey. 

Cover it with a bandage, and change it daily. The honey helps to keep the wound moist, which promotes faster healing and reduces the risk of scarring. Plus, it can help to relieve pain and itching.

Eczema can be a real challenge for kids (and their parents!). The constant itching and discomfort can be tough to manage. One of my favorite natural remedies for eczema relief is an oatmeal bath. Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to soothe irritated skin and reduce itching.

To make an oatmeal bath, grind plain, unsweetened oatmeal into a fine powder using a blender or food processor. Add about a cup of the oatmeal powder to a tub of lukewarm water and stir it around to distribute it evenly. 

Have your child soak in the bath for 10-15 minutes. After the bath, gently pat their skin dry and apply a moisturizer.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is another fantastic natural remedy for eczema. It’s rich in fatty acids that can help to hydrate and protect the skin. Applying coconut oil to eczema-prone areas can help to reduce dryness and itching.

I like to apply coconut oil to my child’s skin after their oatmeal bath. It helps to lock in moisture and keep their skin feeling soft and smooth. 

You can also use coconut oil as a daily moisturizer to prevent eczema flare-ups. Just make sure to use unrefined, virgin coconut oil for the best results.

The warm, moist air helps to loosen mucus and clear nasal passages. I often add a few drops of eucalyptus or peppermint essential oil to the shower floor for an extra boost. Just be sure to keep the bathroom door closed to trap the steam. Have your child sit in the steamy bathroom for 10-15 minutes to help relieve congestion.

Saline Nasal Spray

Saline nasal spray is another great tool for combating congestion. It helps to moisten nasal passages and loosen mucus, making it easier to breathe. You can find saline nasal spray at most drugstores, or you can easily make your own at home.

To make a saline nasal spray, mix 1/4 teaspoon of salt with 1 cup of warm water. Use a nasal spray bottle or a bulb syringe to gently spray the saline solution into each nostril. Repeat several times a day as needed. It’s a safe and effective way to relieve congestion for both kids and adults.

To make a honey and lemon mixture, combine 1 tablespoon of honey with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice in a cup of warm water. Stir well and drink slowly. You can repeat this several times a day as needed. Just be sure not to give honey to infants under 1 year old due to the risk of botulism.

A relaxing bedtime routine can make a world of difference when it comes to promoting restful sleep. One of my favorite ways to wind down before bed is with a warm bath. The warm water helps to relax muscles and calm the mind.

I often add a few drops of lavender essential oil to the bath for an extra soothing effect. You can also add Epsom salts, which are rich in magnesium and can help to relax muscles and promote sleep. Have your child soak in the warm bath for 10-15 minutes before bedtime.

Reading

Reading is another great way to relax before bed. It helps to take your mind off of the day’s stresses and prepare for sleep. I like to read aloud to my children, but they also enjoy reading on their own.

Choose calming, age-appropriate books that will help to lull them to sleep. Avoid screens (TVs, computers, tablets, and phones) for at least an hour before bedtime, as the blue light emitted from these devices can interfere with sleep.
