3 Areas Of The Home That Could Do With A Little More Cleaning

Cleaning your house is a routine thing. You whip round with spray and the vacuum, making sure there’s no dust on the TV and all the fluff is off the carpet. It’s quick and easy and makes sure you always feel comfortable in your own space.

That’s why it’s so easy for some areas of the home to go neglected. It’s nothing serious – you can plan a deep clean or a declutter whenever you want – but even then, some jobs can be forgotten. If you want to double-check that you’re tackling everything you need to when you’re tidying up, check out the three areas below.

However, if you find yourself short on time, you can always take advantage of the cleaning experts at Bear Brothers Cleaning.

Tips to Maintain a Cleaner Home

Flat Surface Tops

How many flat surface tops are in your home? Probably more than you think! Cabinet and cupboard tops, any bookshelf, open closet shelves, appliance tops that are hidden by kitchen counters – these surfaces can be numerous throughout a house.

It’s rare for these surfaces to get any attention on a cleaning routine. But if you give them a wipe down the next time you’ve got some time to clean, you’ll have a practically dust free home in the space of 20 minutes! Do this three or four times a year to get rid of the worst dust bunnies and you’ll be good.

HVAC Filters

How often do you clean out your air-con or heating system? Maybe once in a blue moon? It’s easy to leave the filters to do their jobs and never spare them another thought again! However, while it’ll be simple to call in an hvac service over the course of the summer, it’s better now to break open those filters and see how much dust has collected there.

Turn off the system to make sure your cleaning efforts won’t cause any trouble, then crack open the front cover. Once you’re in, wipe down the filters, coils, and the inside of the system with a warm, damp cloth. Of course, if the filter looks worn and damaged, you may have to replace it, but that won’t be too expensive either. Similarly, if it’s been a long time since you put in a new filter, you may also need to replace it.

Inside of Appliances

Cleaning the inside of the washing machine or the dishwasher seems unnecessary. After all, soap and water get sloshed around them on a (near) daily basis! However, limescale and soap scum can build up, food and fluff can get stuck in the pipes, and a pretty bad smell can emanate.

Washing out your appliances on a monthly basis is the best way to prevent these problems from happening again. You can simply throw in a cleaner available from any store, maybe add a bit of salt to the dishwasher, and the task is all done!

Cleaning the house is a never-ending task. However, you can fend off the worst jobs for longer by regularly paying attention to areas like these. If you’ve got the time, plan out a new routine!
